Melissa Gann

Saturday, August 1, 2009

Melissa Gann grew up in the Atlanta area admiring art and nature, but studying music. After receiving her formal education and degree in piano performance, she spent an impromptu month in the Sonoran desert of Arizona with artist and mentor Claudia Hartley. It was there in the indescribable colors of the winter desert that she first learned to paint.

As often as she can, Ms. Gann paints en plein air, from life, working to capture authentic color with suggestive brush strokes. In her studio Ms. Gann is able to relish moments of her other passion, travel, by painting scenes she captured on film while abroad.

A collection of Melissa's work will be showing through this fall
at the Muéo Arts Gallery located at Church of the Redeemer,
5185 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, GA 30342.
