Don McCook holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Georgia State University where he studied bass trombone with Bill Hill. He also holds a Master of Music Education from the University of Georgia. He has taught instrumental music for seventeen years in elementary, middle and high schools in Fulton and Cobb Counties and is currently an elementary school administrator with the Cobb County School System. In addition, Mr. McCook has played the bagpipes for the past twenty years, performing with both the Atlanta Pipe Band and the John Mohr MacIntosh Pipes and Drums, as well as playing solo. He serves on the Stone Mountain Highland Games piping committee where he coordinates the annual Stone Mountain Invitational Bagpipe Competition, which has drawn international competitors. In addition to performing, he enjoys directing musical ensembles and arranging.
